First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Isaac Asimov's "Three Laws of Robotics"[2]
  1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
  2. A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
  3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
Innovation is the specific tool of entrepreneurs, the means by which they exploit change as an opportunity for a different business or a different service. It is capable of being presented as a discipline, capable of being learned, capable of being practiced. Entrepreneurs need to search purposefully for the sources of innovation, the changes and their symptoms that indicate opportunities for successful innovation. And they need to know and to apply the principles of successful innovation. - Drucker, P. F. (1985). Innovation and entrepreneurship. New York, NY: Harper

How To Ask Questions The Smart Way - In the world of hackers, the kind of answers you get to your technical questions depends as much on the way you ask the questions as on the difficulty of developing the answer. This guide will teach you how to ask questions in a way more likely to get you a satisfactory answer.

Past Projects

  • SrvPoint Wine eKiosk
  • SrvPoint Mall eDirectory
  • VinesOS Winery eCommerce
    • I was the lead PHP / JavaScript / MYSQL developer on the VinesOS 2.x application. The VinesOS is a combination CMS, eCommerce and Wine Club Membership manager. VinesOS 2.x was a rewrite of the initial VinesOS application, using the Seagull PHP Framework. There was a small development team of 2 – 3 developers. I also served as the sysadmin for the LAMP stack, VinesOS was run on a number of Hosted VPS’s, I was responsible for installation and configuration of PHP, Apache and MySQL on the Linux CentOS servers. I worked with the other developers to configure / tweak the MySQL and PHP setting in an effort to improve performance. Also any maintenance and backup tasks. PHP, MySQL and Linux
  • Inspection Order Manager with CRM Integration
    • I was the lead PHP Zend 1.x / JavaScript / MySQL developer of the Order Manager application with integration into Infusionsoft's CRM and Google Apps, designed to take home, termite, roof and pool inspection request. Orders are entered into the application, one or more inspectors are assigned the jobs, each inspector’s Google calendar is updated with the inspection type, date / time of the inspection, etc. The order is linked to a Real Estate agent, who make the request via the CRM, which is used for lead generation. The Order is also linked to the home / home owner, to provide notifications of the inspection, etc. - PHP, Zend Framework 1.x, MySQL, JavaScript, Linux and Amazon Web Services
  • IT Requests
    • I was the lead Slim PHP Framework / JavaScript developer on a simple IT Request front-end. Larger clients has a number of common request types, and the standard free-form email requests were not working well for them, end-users were not sure what information was needed to allow the team to effectively solve their issue. The IT Request application leads the requester through a series of question to gather detailed information about the request; this information is then feed into the Kaseya BMS ticketing system. Creating IT Tickets that allows the team to ‘quickly’ solve the issue. - PHP, Slim
  • AWS CloudFront / AWS WAF Protection for multiple WordPress sites
    • As AWS Cloud Administrator, clients has 35+ WordPress sites hosted on AWS that required an added layer of protection from DDoS, XSS and other common WordPress attack vectors. The project was to place all these WordPress sites behind AWS CloudFront and add a layer of security via the AWS WAF offering. AWS CloudFront was configured to serve both static and dynamic content. Then using a standard CloudFormation template AWS WAF was setup, creating a web access control list, rules, and filters. AWS Lambda functions were also added to import IP Address Reputation Lists to automatically update AWS WAF IP blacklists. - Amazon Web Services, AWS CloudFront, AWS WAF and Shield, and AWS Lambda
    • WordPress AWS WAF
    • WordPress AWS CloudFront

Entrepreneurship "The entrepreneur," said the French economist J. B. Say around 1800, "shifts economic resources out of an area of lower and into an area of higher productivity and greater yield."[3]

Software Development

Software Development is the process of computer programming, documenting, testing, and bug fixing involved in creating and maintaining applications and frameworks resulting in a software product. Software development is a process of writing and maintaining the source code, but in a broader sense, it includes all that is involved between the conception of the desired software through to the final manifestation of the software, sometimes in a planned and structured process. Therefore, software development may include research, new development, prototyping, modification, reuse, re-engineering, maintenance, or any other activities that result in software products.[4]

Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing is a model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. This cloud model promotes availability and is composed of five essential characteristics (On-demand self-service, Broad network access, Resource pooling, Rapid elasticity, Measured Service); three service models (Cloud Software as a Service (SaaS), Cloud Platform as a Service (PaaS), Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)); and, four deployment models (Private cloud, Community cloud, Public cloud, Hybrid cloud). Key enabling technologies include: (1) fast wide-area networks, (2) powerful, inexpensive server computers, and (3) high-performance virtualization for commodity hardware.[5]

DevOps is a software development method that stresses communication, collaboration and integration between software developers and information technology (IT) professionals. DevOps is a response to the interdependence of software development and IT operations. It aims to help an organization rapidly produce software products and services.[6]

Information Technology

ESET Enjoy Safer TechnologyInformation Technology (IT) is the application of computers and telecommunications equipment to store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data, often in the context of a business or other enterprise.[7]

  • TiddlyWiki a unique non-linear notebook for capturing, organising and sharing complex information.[8]
  • Dia is free and open source general-purpose diagramming software, developed originally by Alexander Larsson. Dia uses a controlled single document interface (SDI) similar to GIMP and Inkscape.[9]
